About Edinburgh
Opportunities
As a national NHS Board in Scotland, the Golden Jubilee’s modern, purpose built environment, combines a first class hospital with the four star facilities in our conference hotel, and centres for research, clinical skills and innovation. In addition, a charitable body has been set up to create a new approach to funding innovation within NHSScotland.
This integrated approach, with a focus on continuous learning and improvement and strong links to academia and industry, creates a crucible for innovation and a vibrant network for the spread of learning and best practice across the world.
Our unique Quality Framework provides assurance that safe, effective, person centred care is delivered at all times. Based on three programmes of Governance, Quality Indicators and a Values Based Workforce, the framework allows health organisations to better understand and react appropriately to ensure patients have a safe, high quality experience. Through the adoption of this Framework there is:
- a relentless focus on quality, performance, patient safety and experience;
- robust governance around decision making;
- a set of shared values, ensuring a culture of engagement and involvement at every level of the organisation;
- increased accountability and scrutiny of performance;
- visible leadership and support; and
- great emphasis in both the physical environment and its staff, being key pillars in the overall patient experience.
Our person-centred approach to healthcare encourages an ethos that is open, questioning and participative; everyone is encouraged to speak out and be actively involved in the quest for continuous improvement and innovation.
We value every patient, visitor and member of staff – currently over 1800 hard working and dedicated staff and volunteers work with us. Our values statements reflect the core behaviours we believe in:
- Valuing Dignity and Respect
- A ‘can do’ attitude
- Leading commitment to quality
- Understanding our responsibilities
- Effectively working together
The person we are looking for needs to embody all of these values, acting as an exceptional leader and role model at all times. A high performer, you should be an innovative and forward thinker who excels in the field of fundraising. You will also be able to build and maintain strong strategic partnerships to deliver both business and philanthropic investments.
I wish you well in your application.

A track record of improving healthcare, Innovation is at the heart of how the Golden Jubilee works which is reflected in their approach to medical practice and healthcare. The range of treatments continues to grow alongside efforts to continually improve the quality of delivery. Today the Golden Jubilee can credibly claim to offer a level of speciality that competes with the very best internationally.
Our proven track record means that the Golden Jubilee is ideally suited to contribute to:
· Reducing the mortality rate for heart disease in Scotland;
· Caring for the next generation with inherited heart problems;
· Working to establish a patient-led health service with life-time health plans for individuals;
· Helping to make old age healthy and comfortable;
· Taking best practice to some of the most disadvantaged parts of the world; and
· Building upon the leading edge medical device technologies to further enhance the Scottish economy.
The Innovation Campaign
At the heart of the Foundation’s success lies the belief that innovation, combined with an unrelenting focus on quality, creates a more efficient, effective, and above all caring healthcare service. The Golden Jubilee is recognised as the champion of healthcare innovation and is tasked with taking forward the Innovation Campaign initiative.
Building on the tradition of philanthropic giving within the NHS, the Campaign will provide a strategic vehicle for philanthropy to support innovation across the NHS in Scotland. Initially focussing on securing significant gifts from individuals and charitable bodies, as the Campaign develops it will reach out to include patients, their families and the wider community.
Taking a broad based approach to securing additional investment from research funding bodies, industrial sponsorship and philanthropy, this additional funding will supplement resources and encourage NHS Scotland to experiment and innovate, whilst also enhancing the work of Scotland’s health care professionals.
Embedded within the management of Golden Jubilee, the ambition is to create a dedicated fundraising operation that will continue to expand over time based on a strong return on investment and become a self-sustaining function within the first two years of operation.
