Welcome Letter from Jamie Livingston, Founder & CEO

Thank you for your interest in joining Livingston James Group.

As you consider which of the many career paths you decide to follow, most people will ask you questions like what do you want to do? what do you want to be? or what do you want to achieve? These are important questions for sure, but at Livingston James Group we are most interested in the ‘why?’ that sits behind those answers.

Why do you want to do that? Why do you want to be that? Why do you want to achieve that?

What purpose underlies the what, the how and the who you want to become?

Why we do what we do is pretty simple, we are passionate about supporting people and organisations to realise their potential so that together we can impact lives and communities for the better. We do this by providing cutting edge executive search, recruitment and leadership advisory services to some of the markets best known organisations and most talented people.

Our purpose, now and always, will set direction for all that we do from strategic decision making and new service/market opportunities through to how we seek feedback from clients and candidates daily.

As we look to the future we see huge opportunity for the contribution our business can make to the markets we serve, and consequently massive opportunity for the next generation of purpose led talent who join us on our journey.

Livingston James Group is a collection of Search and Selection businesses which offers a genuine alternative to the traditional recruitment model.  We deliver a premium service to our clients utilising insights, data, and experience. We also understand that successful recruitment businesses require models that best suit the needs of their primary stakeholders and the specialist markets in which they operate. With this in mind Livingston James Group is made up of three specialist brands – Livingston James, Rutherford Cross and Hamilton Forth. Community is at the heart of Livingston James Group. We strive to make an impact not only for our clients, candidates, and colleagues, but also for the communities of which we are a part.  In this regard we define ‘communities’ as the social and environmental causes that are important to us.

We seek to make a difference to the communities we serve in three core ways:

We invest our time…

Many of us serve on the boards of charities close to our hearts; Enable Group, The Wooden Spoon, Tennis Scotland, Project Scotland and Good Morning Service to name but a few. We also act as mentors on programmes such as MCR Pathways, are often involved in providing career and CV advice in local schools and help facilitate community initiatives such as Project Present and Back to School.

To help support these activities, each colleague is given two fully paid days a year to invest in the cause most important to them.

We invest our money…

Each year a percentage of Group profits is donated to the individual community causes chosen by each colleague. Clients and candidates kind enough to provide feedback on our service are also asked for their opinion on how our funds are distributed

We fundraise…

We climb mountains, cycle around islands, run marathons, organise dinners, lunches and wine tastings, and have even tried our hands as retail managers within Marie Curie shops all in order to raise money for many great causes over the years.  Find out more here.
