Curriculum Creator, Risk and Technology at ICAS

Take a look at the role…

Thank you for your interest in this position and welcome to ICAS.

This is an interesting and exciting time to work at ICAS as we take forward a new vision and strategy. These strategic changes at ICAS, which are transforming how we operate both internally and externally, are driven in part by our wider environment and our member CAs.

The accountancy profession is going through a period of significant change as technological advances (such as automation and artificial intelligence) continue to offer opportunities for new ways of working. At the same time, the role of audit, which is a fundamental to the work of many of our members is under intense scrutiny. We as an organisation along with many other interested participants are engaged in consultations ensuring that the audit itself is fit for the future.

Another challenge facing both the profession and ICAS is the need for CAs to have the skills required for the future – including those needed to rebuild public trust and navigate alongside technological advances.

One way in which ICAS is supporting the profession’s talent is by changing how we educate and train our students. From September 2019 a revised syllabus, which places greater emphasis on ethics, technology and business acumen, will be in place to prepare our students.

Strategically, our new vision – for ICAS to be recognised and respected as a world leader in the future of finance professionals and the advancement of the profession – is supported by a Strategy for Change for the coming two to three years. As part of the ICAS team, you will play a key part in this Strategy and, as a member of our Learning Team, take the lead on driving forward our educational offering for ICAS students and members.

At ICAS , serving the Public Interest is core to who we are. In addition we have four core values that guide our staff in everything they do. We:

• Put members first
• Keep reaching higher
• Work as one team
• Set the pace

If these sound like values you can believe in, and if you feel you have the right skills for this role and are ready to take on the challenges that ICAS and the accountancy profession are facing, I would encourage you to apply.

J BRUCE CARTWRIGHT CA

ICAS is the world-class network that educates, examines and leads, to promote, inspire and enable professional excellence in Chartered Accountants (CAs).

An international business community

All 22,000 ICAS members have earned our internationally prestigious, and ICAS-exclusive, ‘CA’ designation of Chartered Accountant.

The incredible amount of hard work required to qualify is an experience that brings all CAs closer together. It’s a global business community that covers a wide range of firms and professions, from local practitioners to leaders at the greatest global companies.

And at ICAS we foster the bonds between our members, so CAs at all stages of their careers can learn from shared experience, build the knowledge and networks required to keep them, and their profession, at the forefront of the business world.

Training the next generation

ICAS was formed by Royal Charter in 1854. As you can imagine, we’ve trained a lot of CAs since then and know the best-possible path to our students’ success.

That abundance of ICAS expertise forms the foundation of our unique syllabus, teaching materials and exams, and a training track-record that speaks for itself: some of the world’s most prominent and accomplished business leaders qualified as CAs with us.

Regulator and thought leader

In addition to educator and examiner, we act as an industry regulator and thought leader.

We oversee our members and their firms, represent them in the UK and abroad – on a wide range of issues in accountancy, finance and business – and always act in the public interest.

In fact, an adherence to public trust and business ethics is a theme that runs through all our activities, from education to regulation.

ICAS is committed to leading the way in the educating of future leaders and impacting business growth and decision making. We are passionate about creating learning material and a course structure which is “relevant” and immediately impactful when CA students return to the “office”.

As such, we have an exciting opportunity for a Curriculum Creator – Risk and Technology to join the Learning division of ICAS.  Reporting to the Director of Programme Delivery, the successful professional will be the subject matter expert and have sole responsibility for leading and developing the subject of Risk & Technology in the CA syllabus.
